Project
To support businesses in the construction and built environment industries in Yorkshire and Humber to become more successful in gaining access onto public sector contracts and regional supply chains.
Solution
Square 5 established an opportunity driven programme aimed at identifying opportunities, better understanding buyer requirements, matching supply with demand and ensuring businesses are more ‘supplier ready’ and able to compete.
This involved setting up a website where businesses could register their details to receive opportunities, and also view opportunities, up-and-coming events and news. A programme of opportunity drive events and workshops were also delivered with speakers from around the region including Tier 1 contractors and local authorities, giving advice to businesses on how they can become suppliers and details of opportunities.
Result
A total of 9 events were delivered with over 700 delegates registering for the events. Over 200 businesses were assisted and 50 given skills training during the 9 months VEN ran the project. A new database of over 1,000 construction businesses was developed giving details of their capabilities, accreditations and insurance details – to enable matching supply with demand. The project is now run from the Construction Sector Network.
