MoD/Royal Fleet Auxiliary visit to Humber

Client

Team Humber Marine Alliance

Project

The marine industry in the Humber region was given the opportunity to meet buyers from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) as part of a broader strategy to bring Naval business back to the region.

The Team Humber Marine Alliance (THMA) invited the MoD’s Afloat Support team to tour local marine engineering businesses and meet members of the THMA.

Solution

Square 5 organised the visit which involved coordinating delegates including a number of Naval Captains and local authority representatives. The delegates enjoyed a buffet dinner on the roof of the World Trade Centre which allowed panoramic views of the Humber Estuary and City following which the group was given a tour of the port of Hull facilities including a visit to a local ship building and repair company.

The following day the delegates visited a further five THMA member companies in and around the region all keen to find out how they could take advantage of the opportunities available in the Naval sector.

Result

The consensus from the MoD is unanimous regarding the high quality of the products and engineering at all the companies visited. Particular reference was made to the pride and enthusiasm that was evident from all the meetings held throughout the day.

Since the visit, through recommendations, new contracts were awarded to THMA members.
