Big Blue Party, Crystal Bar Sheffield

Client

Charity event as part of the Master Cutlers Challenge to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

Project

Every company involved in the Master Cutler's Challenge is given £50 and tasked with turning it into as much money as possible for the charity. The most innovative idea also wins an award.

Solution

Square 5 rose to the challenge by using its event organising skills to organise a party, naturally with a theme of all things ‘blue’. Keeping costs down and raising money at the same time was a real challenge.

The team pulled in support from local businesses and managed to secure The Crystal Bar in Sheffield complete with blue cocktails, an alternative blue carpet, blue balloons and even specially made ‘Big Blue Beer’ from local brewers Kellam Island. Even the Square 5 girls threw themselves into the theme wearing showgirls outfits complete with blue basques and hats.

Result

At £10 a ticket, a blue themed raffle and an opening by the Master Cutler, James Newman himself - the mid-week event was a huge success with over £1,200 being raised. Guests included a blue fairy (complete with fairy lights), a big blue Crayon, Avatar characters, a blue Hoola girl, a painted blue and Hawaiian shirt wearing man, and a head-to-toe covered blue morph.

Square 5 were nominated for the award for the ‘Most Innovative Idea’ for the ‘Big Blue Beer’ at the Master Cutler's Awards dinner.
